Losing weight is hard, and it’s even harder to know the best way to do it.

There are so many different diets out there, but which one should you choose? Some people say that losing weight fast is better than slow because they can see progress faster. Others say that losing weight slowly will help them keep their motivation up for a longer period of time.

Let’s take a look at both sides of this debate and find out which one might be better for you!

The Pros and Cons of Losing Weight Fast

It’s a very common misconception that fast weight loss is good. This couldn’t be further from the truth. When people lose weight too quickly, they are more likely to regain it when they start eating normally again. This happens because their metabolism slows down when they go back to eating regular food.

Much like any other workout, when you first start doing it your body is able to handle it and it doesn’t tire out as easily. However, the longer you continue doing that same workout the more likely you are to burn out before hitting your goal. The same goes for losing weight fast. This is called overtraining.

People who do lose weight fast are more likely to gain it right back faster than people who lose weight slowly. If you do want to try losing weight fast, make sure that the method you choose is healthy in the long run and doesn’t compromise your health for a short-term goal.

Losing Weight Fast Pros:

  • You can see yourself getting smaller with every day that passes.
  • You can fit into smaller clothing!
  • You can get results faster

Losing Weight Fast Cons:

  • You may gain your weight back quickly
  • You could get discouraged if you don’t lose a substantial amount right away

The Pros and Cons of Losing Weight Slow

People usually try to lose weight fast as they want to see results immediately. In reality, losing 1 or 3 pounds within the first week is a huge accomplishment.

Losing weight slowly on the other hand can lead to sustainable results, something that most people would rather have. While slow weight loss may not be as exciting, it does get you closer to your goal of losing those unwanted pounds.

What’s great about slow weight loss is that you can lose weight steadily instead of in big chunks. This means that your new, slimmer self will seem more natural and healthy for your body. Fast weight loss leaves you feeling like a thin version of yourself instead of being who you really are.

Losing Weight Slowly Pros:

  • You’re far less likely to have problems with your metabolism slowing down
  • You can lose weight at a healthy rate that you can handle
  • You will be less likely to regain weight once you stop dieting
  • You will be able to reach and maintain that new healthy weight for a long time
  • You are more likely to continue good eating habits for the rest of your life
  • You’ll have more energy and will feel great about yourself

Losing Weight Slowly Cons:

  • It’s much slower than losing weight fast, so it can seem harder and take longer
  • The results of your hard work don’t seem as exciting because you don’t see as big of a change in your body
  • You might get discouraged and not continue

Choosing which diet is better for you

The best way to choose between these two diets is to find out what works best for your lifestyle. Maybe you have a very busy schedule that would make it hard to get enough calories each day if you were to try losing weight fast.

Perhaps you need a diet that’s easy to follow and won’t be boring if you’re going to be losing weight slowly. If you are having trouble deciding, try doing what others have done before you and try both!

You will love the results no matter which diet plan you choose, but it might take a while longer than originally expected if you go with the losing weight slowly plan. Maybe even a few weeks! But don’t give up, because just like how slow and steady wins the race, so will your weight loss journey if you stay true to your diet!

Tips for you!

Here are 5 important tips I want to leave for you guys.

Tip Number 1: Start Now!

Remember, there is no time to lose! If you are going to do this, start NOW. Don’t think about it anymore or you will never get started. It’s a waste of your time and energy thinking about doing something when you can be working towards losing weight. Start now so that you don’t have the same regrets as so many others do.

Tip Number 2: Eat More!

Remember that losing weight slowly involves eating more food than a fast diet does. This is so important because your body needs all of those extra calories to burn and continue going throughout the day. If you don’t eat enough, then how will you ever lose weight?

Tip Number 3: Don’t Skip Breakfast!

Breakfast is not just the most important meal of the day, it’s also the most skipped. Skipping breakfast can make you hungrier than usual throughout your day which leads to overeating and bad food choices later in the day. This means that you will be less likely to reach your goal weight because you are consuming too many calories than what you need.

Tip Number 4: Keep Track of Your Progress!

It’s great if you want to lose weight slowly but don’t keep track of how far you’ve come along the way. However, as time goes by and things aren’t changing much, it can be hard to see your progress. So it’s a great idea to take pictures as you go along of yourself so that you can see how much weight you’ve lost instead of just going by the number on the scale. Although the number on the scale will also be your indicator of how much weight you’ve lost, the pictures will show you just how different you look and it’ll give you the motivation to keep going!

Tip Number 5: Don’t Be Afraid to Fail!

It’s a good thing if this happens because then you know that it wasn’t the right diet for you. If you fall off of your diet, that’s okay! that just means what you were doing at the time wasn’t working for you. This doesn’t mean you need to start all over again because now you know what not to do to lose weight.
