Do you know what’s not fun? The gym. It’s expensive and not very convenient. You always find yourself looking for a parking space because the only time you can go is during peak hours, then once you park and get inside the gym you have to deal with how packed the gym is and how you can’t find any open machines! That’s just the small part of it.

You find yourself surrounded by people with perfect bodies and you feel like the only one struggling to get through your workout.

You don’t want to be there, but you have no other choice if you want to lose weight or build muscle right? Wrong! There are ways to work out that can give you a similar experience without all the stress of being judged in person.

Here are some examples of ways to stay/get in shape without ever joining a gym: Workout at home, walk/run/jog outside, go for a hike. These are great ways to lose weight without ever stepping inside a gym.

I still remember the first time I walked into a gym, I was intimidated. There were people all around me lifting weights and running on the treadmill. I felt like the only one struggling to get through my workout. I didn’t want to be there, but if wanted to lose weight or build muscle, I felt like it was the only way.

Ways To Lose Weight Without Joining A Gym

It wasn’t till later on I realize that you don’t need a gym membership to get in shape! If you’re in the same boat, try these instead.

Take Note: It’s always a great idea to get cleared from your doctor before engaging in any type of workout exercise. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.

Workout at home:

The benefit of working out at home is that you can do it whenever and wherever. You don’t need to worry about making a time or place for your workout.

Examples of home exercises you can do:

Bodyweight Workouts:

Dips  (on a chair) – this is great for your triceps, chest, and core! You can also do these on the ground.

The benefits of this type are that you can do them anywhere!  You don’t need any equipment, and they’re a great way to get your heart rate up for an intense workout in just minutes or seconds at home (or on the go). These exercises also work out multiple muscle groups so it’s easy if want more than one at a time.

Push-ups can be done anywhere around the house. Push-up movement can be modified by using your knees or hands.

Dips can be done on a chair, the ground, and with weights (if you have them). This exercise is great for working out triceps as well!  You don’t need any equipment to do this one either which makes it perfect if want more than just bodyweight exercises at home or even when traveling

Squats – There are many ways to perform a squat as a beginner. You use a chair, bench, or wall for support. These are great because you don’t need any equipment and they’re easy enough that anyone should be able to work up their way from beginner level to expert.

Abdominal Exercises – Crunches, Sit-ups, Planks,  Side Planks.

These are just a few examples of exercises that can be performed at home.

Go for a walk/run:

We all know that doing cardio is a  great way to lose weight. But sometimes it can be hard for people who don’t have a lot of time on their hands or are intimidated by going to the gym. Going for a run, jog, or walk outside is a great alternative for this.

Cardio Workouts:  Running, Jogging, or Walking – You can do this outside in the fresh air. It’s a great way to get your heart rate up and burn calories while enjoying nature! If you’re not comfortable running on pavement then try going for walks around town instead of driving there.

High-Intensity Interval Training: Also known as HIIT, this is a great way to get your heart rate up and burn calories.

Tabata Training: This is a type of High-Intensity Training. This type of training consists of 20 seconds of intense exercise followed by a ten-second break.

Plyometrics: This is another type of high-intensity training that consists of jumping and hopping on a variety of surfaces.

Remember to always start slow and gradually increase the intensity. No one will know your limits, only you can identify that.

Go for a Hike:

Going for a hike is a great way to spend time with friends, family, or even your significant other. It’s also an excellent workout because you’re constantly going up and down hills which will get the heart rate pumping!

Hiking is one of those activities that can be done anywhere in any season so it doesn’t matter if its summertime when there are no leaves on trees for shade from sun rays; winter where snow covers everything including ground-level paths making them slippery as ice skating rinks but still doable (just take more caution); spring/fall seasons offer beautiful scenery while being less humid than summers or fall months.

If you’re fortunate enough like me, most national parks around me are only a few hours away.

There’s this amazing app that I use to find trails around me. It’s called  AllTrails and it’s free. I use this app all the time, especially when I’m traveling. It’s a great way to find hikes that are close by.

These are just a few alternatives you can do instead of the gym. If you have any questions, I’ll be happy to answer them. Just shoot me a message on my social media and I will get back to you ASAP!
